We analyze the comprehension data in Broca's aphasia, pooled together by Berndt, Mitchum, and Haendinges (1996). We show that once analyzed properly, these data have statistical structure that is very similar to that revealed by the analysis in Grodzinsky, Pinango, Zurif, and Drai (1999). The suggestion that the latter authors doctored the data to obtain a desired outcome is as false as the claim that the data in Berndt et al. show no regularity. Comprehension scores in Broca's aphasia do have statistical structure, which correlates with syntactic structure. Thus, the role of Broca's area and its vicinity in language processing can be made more precise.

Among the wide range of anomia treatments for persons with aphasia (PWA), Phonological Components Analysis (PCA) is a well-known alternative. A systematic review of PCA efficacy studies for PWA was conducted to extract treatment-related and participant-related characteristics, to synthesise immediate and long-term outcomes and to assess the methodological quality of PCA studies (PROSPERO pre-registration CRD42024552047). Experimental studies on adults with post-stroke aphasia focusing on the efficacy of PCA published in English were included.

Introduction: Although many white matter tracts underlying language functions have been identified, even in aggregate they do not provide a sufficiently detailed and expansive picture to enable us to fully understand the computational processes that might underly language production and comprehension. We employed diffusion tensor tractography (DTT) with a tensor distribution model to more extensively explore the white matter tracts supporting core language functions. Our study was guided by hypotheses stemming largely from the aphasia literature.
