The research presented is a survey of all of the identified forensic psychiatry Medium Secure Units (MSUs) within Great Britain. The study examined the numbers and nature of all escapes from these units over a 42-month period. The research focused on the relationship between the building design of the units and the nature of patient escapes. The results showed that overall numbers of patient escapes from the units was low. The average number of escapes was 3.14 per unit over the three-and-a-half-year time-span of the survey. However, the recent increases in bed numbers in medium secure units had been paralleled by a larger percentage rise in escapes. Most escapes from the units occurred from three main areas. These were the perimeter fence, the roof, and internal and external windows. The implications of the methods of escape and their relationship to the building design of MSUs were discussed and recommendations made for future building designs.

Background: Increasing intentions to quit e-cigarettes among youth and young adults can reduce usage rates by making quit attempts more likely. This study assessed the potential impacts of a national media campaign, focused on building knowledge of e-cigarette use risks and cessation resources, on intentions to quit and campaign-targeted beliefs about mental health and quitting.
Methods: A national sample from a repeated cross-sectional online survey was collected from March 2022 to August 2023, among youth and young adults who reported e-cigarette use in the past 30 days (N=5169).

Acovenoside A, a cardenolide glycoside from Acokanthera oppositifolia, demonstrates significant therapeutic potential in cardioprotection and oncology, particularly against non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, its toxicological profile requires thorough evaluation for safe pharmaceutical application. For this purpose a comprehensive in silico methods were applied, including ACD/Labs Percepta, STopTox, admetSAR 3.

Herein, we synthesized a novel injectable porous magnetic hydrogel (MHG) at room temperature using carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCS), polydopamine (PDA), sodium alginate (SA), polyethyleneimine (PEI) and copper ferrite (CuFeO) as building blocks. The CMCS and SA as monomers provided good film-forming and anti-fouling properties for MHG. The PDA-coated CuFeO as a cross-linking agent improved the homogeneity, adsorption and electrocatalytic performance of MHG, but also generated a macroporous hydrogel structure which was beneficial for sensing applications.

Interrogating gene expression in tumor can identify up- and downregulated molecular targets of cancer drugs. Here we report the results of prospective clinical investigation of using RNA sequencing analysis for personalized cancer therapy. Transcriptomic profiles were analyzed using Oncobox platform that identifies altered expression of drug target genes and molecular pathways and builds a personalized rating of targeted therapeutics.
