Six adolescents with traumatic brain injury and six adolescents who had been hospitalized for an illness or injury not affecting the brain were administered two narrative tasks designed to vary in their demand for spontaneous organization of information and minimize the requirement for new learning. The discourse topics--a description of each subject's injury and hospitalization, and a re-telling of a current event--were chosen to be representative of discourse in adolescent daily living. Narratives produced by subjects in each group were compared between the two tasks on measures of coherence and cohesion. Subjects in both groups produced significantly more coherent and cohesive narratives in the personal event task than in the current event task, and there was no significant difference between groups. The results are discussed in relation to face validity of language tasks for adolescents, and the multiple factors contributing to adolescent social discourse.

Intranasal drug delivery is a promising non-invasive method for administering both local and systemic medications. While previous studies have extensively investigated the effects of particle size, airflow dynamics, and deposition locations on deposition efficiency, they have not focused on the thickness of deposited particles, which can significantly affect drug dissolution, absorption and therapeutic efficacy. This study investigates the deposition patterns of dry powder particles within the nasal airway, specifically examining how factors such as flow rates, particle size, and particle cohesiveness influence deposition patterns and their thickness.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the effect of chlorhexidine (CHX) cavity disinfectant on interfacial microleakage and micro-tensile bond strength (μTBS) of a universal adhesive bonded to dentin in both self-etch (SE) and etch-and-rinse (ER) modes.
Methods: Class I cavities were prepared in the coronal dentin of extracted human teeth and assigned to two etching modes (SE or ER), then subdivided by disinfection with or without CHX (n = 5). Cavities were restored using Single Bond Universal Adhesive and Filtek Z350 XT composite.

Objective: In vitro evaluation of the morphology of the enamel surface before bonding metal tubes and after debonding using spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) and light microscopy.
Methods: In all, 40 extracted caries-free human molars without defects were selected and cleaned. The tooth surfaces were imaged by light microscopy and SD-OCT prior to the placement of metal tubes (Titanium Orthos; Ormco, Brea, CA, USA).
