Purpose: To describe the clinical and histopathologic findings in a patient with corticosteroid-induced open-angle glaucoma attributable to an adrenocorticotropin-secreting malignant carcinoid of the thymus.
Methods: Case report. In a 33-year-old man, the clinical course, laboratory findings, and imaging results as well as the histopathologic findings are described.
Results: Increased intraocular pressure in this patient represented a manifestation of severe hypercortisolism attributable to a malignant adrenocorticotropin-secreting carcinoid tumor. Surgical removal resulted in return of the intraocular pressure values to normal levels.
Conclusion: Thymic carcinoid is a rare cause of Cushing syndrome, which can lead to increased intraocular pressure.

It is generally accepted that intraocular pressure (IOP) depends on the rate of aqueous humor production, system outflow resistance, and episcleral venous pressure. Therefore, control IOP values are expected to be within the strict and predictable limits in specific animal species, and there should be no vast differences between species. However, in the literature the control IOP values significantly vary (from potentially "hypotensive" to "hypertensive") within the same species, and especially between species depending on the measurement technique, head position in relation to the rest of the body, circadian rhythm, age, and topical and systemic drugs (anesthetics) applied.

Purpose: Idiopathic elevated episcleral venous pressure (IEEVP) or Radius-Maumenee syndrome (RMS) is a rare disease without any identified underlying cause. An increasing episcleral venous pressure (EVP) leads to raised intraocular pressure (IOP) and consequently glaucomatous damage of the optic nerve. The objective of this paper is to report this rare condition as well as its clinical management.

Aim: To quantitatively analyze the relationship between spherical equivalent refraction (SER) and retinal vascular changes in school-age children with refractive error by applying fundus photography combined with artificial intelligence (AI) technology and explore the structural changes in retinal vasculature in these children.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective case-control study, collecting data on 113 cases involving 226 eyes of schoolchildren aged 6-12 years who attended outpatient clinics in our hospital between October 2021 and May 2022. Based on the refractive spherical equivalent refraction, we categorized the participants into four groups: 66 eyes in the low myopia group, 60 eyes in the intermediate myopia group, 50 eyes in the high myopia group, and 50 eyes in the control group.

Background: Uveitis is a rare ocular adverse reaction of zoledronic acid, the specific clinical features are not clarified. This study was to investigate the clinical features of zoledronic acid-induced uveitis and provide reference for rational use of zoledronic acid.
Methods: We collected clinical data on zoledronic acid-induced uveitis for retrospective analysis by searching Chinese and English data up to October 31, 2024.

Minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries (MIGS) offer an alternative approach, aiming to be both safe and effective. Defined by their ab interno technique, which avoids creating a bleb, MIGS procedures seek to reduce intraocular pressure (IOP) by enhancing the outflow pathways of aqueous humor. Techniques include stenting, incisions, and excisions of the trabecular meshwork, canaloplasty of Schlemm's canal, and drainage implants that enhance uveoscleral outflow to the subchoroidal space.
