The rheological action of aspirin on human erythrocytes was studied by in vitro incubation of normal erythrocytes with aspirin at 1, 2 and 4 mg/ml for 30-60 min and then measuring erythrocyte rheological properties of deformability, osmotic fragility and aggregation. Aspirin (2 and/or 4 mg/ml) significantly (p<0.05) prevented the loss of filterability (deformability) through 5 microm diameter pores of erythrocytes dehydrated with hypertonic buffer (450 mOsm/kg water) or with potassium ionophore valinomycin (18 micromol/l). When the calcium ionophore A23187 (1.9 micromol/l) was used to induce cell dehydration, aspirin (4 mg/ml) unexpectedly significantly (p<0.05) increased further the loss of filterability (deformability). Aspirin (1, 2 and 4 mg/ml) also increased significantly (p<0.05) erythrocyte osmotic fragility. Aspirin (4 mg/ml) had no effects on aggregation of erythrocytes induced by dextran 70 (3%). The results suggest that aspirin could play a rheologically active role on erythrocytes. The observed effects of aspirin could be explained by acetylation of intracellular proteins and hence saturation (concentration) of the cell interior with the osmotically active drug.

In this present study, we developed and characterized a series of supramolecular G4 hydrogels by integrating -cyclodextrin (-CD) and boronic acid linkers into a supramolecular matrix to enhance antibacterial activity against (). We systematically investigated how varying the number of free boronic acid moieties (ranging from two to six), along with guanosine and β-CD content, influences both the structural integrity and antimicrobial efficacy of these materials. Comprehensive characterization using FTIR, circular dichroism, X-ray diffraction, SEM, AFM, and rheological measurements confirmed successful synthesis and revealed that higher boronic acid content correlated with a stronger, more organized network.

This study examined the effects of salt content and salt type on the properties of the hydroxypropyl guar gum fracturing fluid. In this study, we conducted a thorough analysis of the impact that various ions in seawater have on the performance of fracturing fluids. We identified the cross-linked polymer that performs optimally at a specific concentration of the binding agent.

The application of nanocomposites based on polyacrylamide hydrogels as well as silica nanoparticles in various tasks related to the petroleum industry has been rapidly developing in the last 10-15 years. Analysis of the literature has shown that the introduction of nanoparticles into hydrogels significantly increases their structural and mechanical characteristics and improves their thermal stability. Nanocomposites based on hydrogels are used in different technological processes of oil production: for conformance control, water shutoff in production wells, and well killing with loss circulation control.

Chitin hydrogel and hydrogel-based products are some of the frequently reported biomaterials for biomedical applications. Yet there is a void in understanding chitin's dissolution mechanism and its most suitable solvent system(s). Chitin is a natural polysaccharide polymer which can be dissolved in solvents such as calcium chloride- methanol, sodium hydroxide/urea (NaOH/urea), lithium chloride diacetamide (LiCl/DMAc), ionic liquids and deep eutectic solvents.

The Gleeble-1500 hot simulation experimental equipment was used to investigate the effects of hot simulation compression on PH13-8Mo stainless steel with strain rates ranging from 0.1 to 10 s and deformation temperatures ranging from 900 to 1150 °C. The stress-strain charts for each deformation condition clearly show the characteristics of dynamic recrystallization behavior.
