Advanced cancer of the prostate causes mechanical obstruction of the ureteral orifice in 10% of patients. In our patient with advanced prostate carcinoma, after the usual method of placement of a ureteral stent had failed, antegrade percutaneous ureteroneocystostomy with placement of a double-J performed by means of the Lawson retrograde nephrostomy set. After removal of the stent 8 months later, the anastomosis functioned without a decrease in caliber until the patient died 2 years later. Our technique represents another new option for the treatment of such patients.

Purpose: To determine the effectiveness of exchange and upsizing of malfunctioning small-caliber double-J (JJ) ureteral stents.
Materials And Methods: Thirty-one patients with malfunctioning cystoscopically placed small-caliber (6 or 7 F) JJ stents underwent transurethral (n = 28) or transrenal (n = 3) exchange and upsizing to a large-caliber (10 F) JJ stent from 2013 to 2022. Ureteral obstruction was malignant in 20 patients (65%) and benign in 11 (35%).

Purpose: We aimed to evaluate the feasibility, effectiveness and safety of ureteral embolization exclusively using Amplatzer Vascular Plugs (AVPs) in the management of ureteral leakages.
Methods: A retrospective analysis of 7 patients with ureteral leakages and fistulas having undergone transrenal ureteral embolization with AVPs was performed. In all cases, AVPs were deployed via a preexisting percutaneous transrenal nephrostomy tube.

Purpose: To describe outcomes of transrenal embolization with vascular plugs and ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH) in a case series of patients with refractory urinary leak or fistula.
Materials And Methods: Fifteen ureteral occlusions performed over 53 months in 9 consecutive patients (56% female; mean age 61 y; range, 45-80 y) were reviewed retrospectively. The main indication was palliation for refractory fistula or leak in the setting of malignancy not responding to urine diversion by percutaneous nephrostomy tube or nephroureteral stent.
