Objective: To investigate the efficacy of laparoscopic sigmoid extraperitoneal colostomy combined with pelvic peritoneal closure in abdominoperineal resection for low rectal cancer.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 162 patients with low rectal cancer, who underwent laparoscopic abdominoperineal resection from January 2015 to January 2019 at the Affiliated Peace Hospital of Changzhi Medical College. Extraperitoneal stoma construction was performed in 98 patients (study group), while 64 patients (control group) underwent the procedure without suturing the pelvic peritoneum.

Nevertheless, the incidence of postoperative complications is significant, and there is currently a lack of research exploring the risk factors associated with complications related to the stoma and incision following the procedure. The objective of this study is to investigate the risk factors for stoma and incision complications after enterostomy in patients with VEO-IBD.

A novel modification of the cutback procedure, a posterior rectal advancement anoplasty (PRAA) for select male patients with an anorectal malformation and a rectoperineal fistula was recently described which incised only within the limits of the sphincteric ellipse and eliminated an anterior rectal dissection, thus avoiding any possibility of a urethral injury. This report provides longer term postoperative outcomes after PRAA. Method A retrospective, single institution study was performed examining male patients with a rectoperineal fistula between 1/2020-12/2023.

Purpose: To examine the adaptive self-management strategies of enterostomy patients across different health trajectory phases and explore how patients utilize a combination of digital tools and traditional practices to manage their condition effectively within the Chronic Illness Trajectory Framework (CITF).
Methods: Participants were recruited from Qingdao Municipal Hospital's Stoma Clinic between October 2022 and August 2024. A total of 26 adults who had undergone permanent enterostomy surgery at least six months prior were selected through purposeful sampling to capture diverse experiences across different health trajectory phases.
