Stripe phases are predicted and observed to occur in a class of strongly correlated materials describable as doped antiferromagnets, of which the copper-oxide superconductors are the most prominent representatives. The existence of stripe correlations necessitates the development of new principles for describing charge transport and especially superconductivity in these materials.

Materials exhibiting both metallic and semiconducting states, including two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), have numerous applications. We therefore investigate the effects of axial and shear strains on the phase energetics of pristine and striped TMDs using density functional theory and classical molecular dynamics simulations. We demonstrate that control of the phase distribution can be achieved by the integration of strain engineering and Kirigami techniques.

In Uganda, the common bean () is often infested by a complex of insect pests, but bean flies, aphids, bean leaf beetles, and flower thrips are the most important. Whereas yield losses due to these pests have been established, there is limited information on their population dynamics at different stages of crop growth and their effect on yield and yield components. In order to describe the population dynamics of selected common bean pests at various phases of bean crop growth, and their impact on yield and yield components, a study was carried out in Uganda during the 2016 second rains and the 2017 first rains in three agro-ecological zones.

Polar vortices are predominantly observed within the confined ferroelectric films and the ferroelectric/paraelectric superlattices. This raises the intriguing question of whether polar vortices can form within relaxor ferroelectric ceramics and subsequently contribute to their energy storage performances. Here, we incorporate 10 mol % CaSnO into the 0.
