[Long-term prognosis after kidney transplantation].

In Germany, nearly 8,000 patients are living with a functioning renal transplantation. The average age of those undergoing transplantation is 43.5 years. Without mismatch 70% of transplanted kidneys show normal function after five years. Other risk factors are important for the long term prognosis. The most important causes of death are cardiovascular diseases. The risk estimation factors are enumerated.
