Purpose: To analyse the effects and complications after the use of intravitreal air in retinal surgery.
Material And Methods: 185 patients (89 female, 96 male, aged from 12 to 81 years) with retinal detachment treated in the Department of Ophthalmology in Bydgoszcz in the period from 1992 to 1997, in whom intravitreal air was used. Patients with breaks lying above the 5 and 7 o'clock meridians were included in the treatment with intravitreal air. Follow-up period was from 6 months to 5 years.
Results: In 94% of cases the treatment was successful. In 2.7% the transient rise of intraocular pressure was noted.
Conclusion: The use of intravitreal air in retinal surgery is an effective, safe, easy to perform, cheap and commonly available method used in retinal detachment surgery.

Purpose: To evaluate and compare the mycobacterial load using a mobile laminar airflow (LAF) device in an IVI-dedicated outpatient clean room (OCR) without ventilation systems and in a hospital-based operating theatre (HOT).
Methods: This case-control study was conducted in 2 different settings: OCR and HOT during a series of intravitreal injections (IVIs). The Air Microbial analysis was performed using a Surface Air System instrument at three different moments during the IVI sessions in both settings: at the operative site (OS), four meters from the OS (DOS) and in the disinfection room (DR).

Introduction: Neovascularization of the lens is a rare entity linked to lens-induced inflammation due to many causes like trauma. We describe a case managed using suprachoroidal triamcinolone, an anti-VEGF injection, in conjunction with cataract surgery and IOL implantation.
Patient And Clinical Findings: A male patient, 27, presented with a severe reduction in vision in his right eye (RE) accompanied by redness for one month.

Purpose: To estimate the vitreous cavity replacement volume after pars plana vitrectomy and analyze its correlation with axial length and refractive error.
Methods: Observational cross-sectional study on 103 eyes undergoing vitrectomy. Fluid-air exchange was performed using a soft-tip cannula connected to a PVC tubing, the distal end of which opened into a 10-cc syringe without the plunger.

Oxygen-induced retinopathy (OIR) mouse model is widely used to study retinal neovascular diseases. Although the OIR procedure has been well established in detail, few studies to date have examined the effect of intravitreal injection using different-sized syringe needles at different time intervals after mouse pups returned to room air on this model. Initially, the significant reduction of NV and VO areas in the vehicle-controls of OIR drew our attention.
