Background/objectives: Metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) is mainly treated with 5-Fluoro-Uracil (5-FU), Oxaliplatin and Irinotecan chemotherapies and anti-Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) or anti-Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) targeted therapies. Due to chemotherapy-related toxicity, patients receive induction treatment to achieve tumour response followed by maintenance therapy with less cytotoxic molecules or a chemotherapy-free interval to reduce chemotherapy-related toxicity. In this study, the aim was to determine the patient, cancer and treatment factors that influence the duration of maintenance therapy (DMT).

In 1973, Jaffe identified and characterized the phenomenon of thigmomorphogenesis, also referred to as mechanical stress (MS) or mechanical stimulation in plants. Previous studies on petunia plants demonstrated that MS significantly affects growth dynamics. As a response to MS, petunias exhibit increased levels of indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) oxidase and peroxidase, although the active transport of endogenous IAA remains unaffected.

Background: Pulse pressure variation (PPV) is limited in low tidal volume mechanical ventilation. We conducted this systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate whether passive leg raising (PLR)-induced changes in PPV can reliably predict preload/fluid responsiveness in mechanically ventilated patients with low tidal volume in the intensive care unit.

Methods: PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane databases were screened for diagnostic research relevant to the predictability of PPV change after PLR in low-tidal volume mechanically ventilated patients.
