January 2025

Department of Urology, Shanghai Tenth People's Hospital, School of Medicine, Tongji University, Shanghai, China; Urologic Cancer Institute, School of Medicine, Tongji University, Shanghai, China. Electronic address:

Objectives: The objective of this review is to provide a comprehensive overview of the utilization of Raman spectroscopy in urinary system diseases, highlighting its potential in non-invasive diagnostic methodologies for early diagnosis and prognostic assessment of urinary ailments.

Methods: We searched PubMed, Web of Science, and Google Scholar using 'raman,' 'bladder,' 'kidney,' 'prostate,' 'cancer,' 'infection,' 'stone or urinary calculi,' and 'urine or urinary,' along with 'AND' and 'OR' to refine our search. We excluded irrelevant articles and screened potential ones based on titles and abstracts before assessing the full texts for relevance and quality.

The Role of Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging Parameters in Prognostication of Systemic Sclerosis in Patients with Cardiac Involvement: A Systematic Review of the Literature.

Acad Radiol

December 2024

Department of Radiology, Cardiothoracic Imaging, University of Washington, Seattle, Washington (H.C., K.O., S.A.); Rajaie Cardiovascular Medical and Research Center, Iran University of Medical Sciences, Tehran, Iran (A.A., A.S., A.G.J., S.A.). Electronic address:

Background: Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is an immune dysregulation disorder affecting multiple organs. Cardiac involvement, prevalently myocardial, is associated with poor outcomes in SSc patients. Several investigations explored the role of cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging in the diagnosis of scleroderma-related cardiomyopathy and analyzed the clinical, radiologic, and pathologic correlations utilizing CMR examinations.

Background: Apart from fusions and the common mutations, targetable molecular alterations are irrelevant for adjuvant treatment decision making in early-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). This retrospective analysis aimed to investigate if there is a difference in recurrence-free survival in stage I-III NSCLC harboring druggable molecular alterations compared to subtypes without targetable molecular alterations.

Methods: All consecutive patients who underwent surgery with curative intent for NSCLC (stage I-III) with targetable mutations between January 2015 and December 2020 at three Austrian institutions were identified and compared with tumors without targetable molecular alterations.

Background: Deep learning techniques excel at identifying tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) and immune phenotypes in hematoxylin and eosin (H&E)-stained slides. However, their ability to elucidate detailed functional characteristics of diverse cellular phenotypes within tumor immune microenvironment (TME) is limited. We aimed to enhance our understanding of cellular composition and functional characteristics across TME regions and improve patient stratification by integrating H&E with adjacent immunohistochemistry (IHC) images.
