Treatment with autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-modified T cells can achieve outstanding clinical response rates in heavily pretreated patients with B and plasma cell malignancies. However, relapses occur, and they limit the efficacy of this promising treatment approach. The complex GMP-compliant production and high treatment costs cause that CAR T cells cannot yet be used in a broad population.

Objective: To investigate the clinical efficacy of dexmedetomidine preemptive analgesia in patients undergoing mastectomy.
Methods: A retrospective study was conducted, including 236 patients who underwent breast tumor resection. Of these, 131 patients in the control group received routine postoperative intravenous patient-controlled analgesia, while 105 patients in the preemptive analgesia group received dexmedetomidine preemptive analgesia during surgery.

Objectives: To evaluate the protective effect of cystatin (r-Cystatin) in a mouse mode of "two-hit" sepsis.
Methods: Sixty male C57BL/6 mice randomized equally into sham-operated group, protein group, "two-hit" modeling group, and protein intervention group. In the former two groups, the mice received an intraperitoneal injection of 100 μL PBS followed by exposure of the cecum and then by intraperitoneal injection of 100 μL PBS or 25 μg r-Cystatin 30 min later; In the latter two groups, 100 μL PBS containing LPS (5 mg/kg) was injected intraperitoneally 24 h before cecal ligation and puncture (CLP), and 100 μL PBS or 25 μg r-Cystatin were injected 30 min after CLP.

Use of immunomodulating agents to prevent the progression of autoimmune β-cell damage leading to type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) is an interesting area for research. These include non-specific anti-inflammatory agents, immunologic vaccination and anti-inflammatory agents targeting specific immune cells or cytokines. Teplizumab is an anti-CD3-molecule that binds to and leads to the disappearance of the CD3/TCR complex and rendering the T cell anergic to its target antigen.
