[Breast cancer and hormone replacement therapy].

There are more than 50 studies and at least 6 metaanalyses with varying results concerning breast cancer risk related to hormone replacement therapy. According to the literature the breast cancer risk in hormone replacement therapy may be slightly increased, especially after long-term treatment. After discontinuing hormone therapy the risk decreases and reaches baseline 5 years later. Since prospective randomised studies are lacking, it is still unclear whether hormone replacement therapy really promotes breast cancer or if the increase is due to methodological biases such as more frequent breast examination or mammography. According to the literature there is no evidence that under hormone replacement therapy the risk of relapse is elevated or the prognosis less favourable in women treated for breast cancer. Since prospective randomised studies with long-term follow-up are lacking, we recommend the use of the guidelines of the "Deutsche Gesellschaft für Senologie", based on oestrogen receptor levels and lymph node involvement. Risks and benefits of hormone replacement therapy should be discussed with the well-informed patient and alternative therapy modalities evaluated.

Allergen Immunotherapy in Autoimmune Terrain: A Case Study.

Indian J Otolaryngol Head Neck Surg

Department of Endocrinology, Joshi Clinic, Mumbai, India.

Allergen immunotherapy (AIT), or specific immunotherapy (SIT), is an effective treatment for inducing immune tolerance to specific allergens. It is widely used for allergic rhinitis, conjunctivitis, asthma, and Hymenoptera venom allergies, with recent applications to food allergies and atopic dermatitis. Despite its benefits, the use of SIT in patients with autoimmune diseases is controversial due to concerns about its potential to induce or exacerbate autoimmune conditions.

Association of endometrial thickness with lesions in postmenopausal asymptomatic women: risk factors and diagnostic thresholds.

BMC Womens Health

March 2025

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Beijing Shijitan Hospital, Capital Medical University, No. 10 Tieyi Road, Yangfangdian Street, Haidian District, Beijing, China.

Purpose: This study aimed to explore the relationship between endometrial thickness and lesions in asymptomatic postmenopausal women and identify diagnostic thresholds for lesions.

Methods: A total of 279 postmenopausal asymptomatic women aged 40 years or older with endometrial thickness ≥ 4 mm were retrospectively selected in our hospital, from January 2018 to June 2023, there were 33 cases's operations which were failed due to the cervical stenosis, 8cases who used hormone replacement therapy within the past year, 7 cases with hysteromyoma that affect the shape of the uterine cavity line, and 5cases's hysteroscopic tissue acquisition were failed. Finally, A retrospective study was conducted on the endometrial thickness of 226 postmenopausal asymptomatic women measured by transvaginal ultrasound and those with thickening were subjected to hysteroscopy and pathological examination of endometrial biopsy tissues, and were divided into a normal group (80 cases), benign lesion group (143 cases), and malignant lesion group (3 cases) according to the pathology results.

Background: The use of traditional and complementary medicines (T&CM) among menopausal women has become prevalent due to the concerns on the adverse effects and differing opinions regarding hormone replacement therapy's (HRT) suitability for long-term following the release of Women's Health Initiative (WHI) results in 2002. To date, there have been no studies conducted on knowledge, attitude and practice towards T&CM among menopausal women in Malaysia. In addition, many women seek relief from menopausal symptoms by using T&CM despite questionable safety and efficacy.

Context: The consequences of untreated adult growth hormone deficiency (aGHD) among childhood cancer survivors are not well-defined. The lack of evidence and socioeconomic factors may contribute to underutilization of growth hormone therapy (GHT) among survivors with aGHD.

Objectives: To examine the association of GHT use with socioeconomic factors and to assess the impact of untreated aGHD in survivors using insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF1) as a marker of GH action.

Introduction: Prolactin (PRL) plays a key role in the regulation of reproductive functions. However, its impact on outcomes in infertility women undergoing assisted reproductive technology remains unclear. This study aimed to examine the relationship between PRL levels and reproductive outcomes in frozen embryo transfer (FET) cycles under hormone replacement therapy (HRT).
