Background: To examine the accuracy of noncontact tympanic (NCT) temperatures in outpatients, we conducted a prospective study comparing NCT temperature with temperatures obtained by oral mercury thermometers.
Methods: The study included 410 patients in whom oral and NCT temperatures were obtained.
Results: Mean oral temperature was 36.47 +/- 0.44 degrees C and mean NCT temperature was 36.36 +/- 0.49 degrees C. On paired-sample, two-sided t-testing, oral temperature differed significantly from NCT temperature, with a P-value < 0.0001. The difference between simultaneous oral and NCT temperatures was > or = 1 degree F; in 63 cases, oral temperature was higher than NCT temperature.
Conclusion: We conclude that NCT temperature measurement is not reliable in an internal medicine outpatient clinic setting.

Objective: The ExPRO (External factors influencing patient reported outcomes of patients with malignant diseases) study explored associations between QoL data and environmental factors on the day of questionnaire completion: mean temperature, sunshine hours, season, and lunar phase.
Methods: We undertook a cross-sectional analysis of baseline data in the prospective cohort study at two cancer centers in eastern Germany. From December 2020 to December 2021, cancer patients completed the EORTC QLQ-C30 questionnaire upon admission.

Conventional inorganic semiconductors are not suitable for acting as nanozymes or sonosensitizers for therapeutic nanomedicine owing to the lack of excellent biocompatibility. Biocompatible carbon dots (CDs) exhibit a variety of biological activities due to their adjustable size and surface chemical modification; however, the simultaneous sonodynamic activity and multiple enzyme-mimicking catalytic activity of a single CD have not been reported. Herein, we report the development of bimetallic doped CDs as a high-efficiency nanozyme and sonosensitizer for enhanced sonodynamic therapy (SDT) and nanocatalytic therapy (NCT).
