Ectopic thyroid tissue can be seen anywhere along the path of the descending glands, but it is rarely seen in the abdominal cavity. An ectopic thyroid was encountered incidentally in the pancreas of a 50-year-old woman who underwent a bilateral truncal vagotomy and pyloroplasty for a duodenal ulcer. There were no signs or symptoms of a thyroid tumor.

: Small papillary thyroid carcinomas with the largest dimension of 10 mm are slow-growing and self-limiting tumors, most of which have no potential for progression, rarely becoming clinically evident carcinomas or undergoing regressive changes. Their anaplastic transformation, primarily in the thyroid gland or into lymph node metastasis, is extremely rare. : A 66-year-old female patient was admitted to our hospital for diagnostics and treatment of a large tumor on the left neck side.

Background: Congenital hypothyroidism (CH) is the most common neonatal disorder, primarily caused by thyroid dysgenesis (TD). While the genetic cause has been identified in less than 5% of TD cases, there is an urgent need to investigate additional gene mutations that may be responsible. In 2018, TUBB1 was identified as a novel candidate gene associated with TD.

Primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) is the third most common endocrine disorder, typically caused by a single parathyroid adenoma. The diagnosis of PHPT is biochemical, and the localization of abnormal parathyroid glands is usually achieved through a combination of ultrasound and technetium-99m sestamibi (99mTc-MIBI) scans. In some cases, newer imaging modalities, such as positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET-CT) with 18F-fluorocholine or 11C-methionine, are used as second-line methods.

Fibro-adipogenic progenitor cells (FAPs) are a heterogeneous population of multipotent mesenchymal cells that give rise to fibroblasts and adipocytes. In response to muscle injury, FAPs are activated and cooperate with inflammatory and muscle stem cells to promote muscle regeneration. In pathological conditions, such as muscular dystrophies, this coordinated response is partially lost and an accumulation of FAPs is observed which is responsible for a maladaptive fibrosis, ectopic fat deposition and impaired muscle regeneration.
