Up to 45% of patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) experience impulse control disorders (ICDs), characterized by a loss of voluntary control over impulses, drives or temptations. This study aimed to investigate whether previously identified genetic and psychiatric risk factors interact towards the development of ICDs in PD. A total of 278 de novo PD patients (ICD-free at enrollment) were selected from the Parkinson's Progression Markers Initiative database.

Implementing this approach within health systems relies on its acceptance by both healthcare providers and patients. While pioneering multidisciplinary pain clinics can serve as a model for implementation, a systematic effort is needed to share knowledge effectively and broadly.

Background: The optimal pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) parameters of vancomycin that can improve outcomes in enterococcal infections remain controversial. To clarify the therapeutic target for this antibiotic, this study aimed to determine vancomycin PK/PD parameters associated with efficacy in the early (during 72 h) or later (after 72 h) phase of treatment and nephrotoxicity in enterococcal bloodstream infection patients.
Methods: This multicenter retrospective study reviewed medical records of patients with enterococcal bloodstream infections treated with intravenous vancomycin infusion for at least 72 h between January 2016 and March 2024 at Phramongkutklao Hospital or Nopparatrajathanee Hospital in Bangkok, and Rachaburi Hospital in Rachaburi Province, Thailand.

Arthritis, a chronic inflammatory condition linked to cardiovascular disease (CVD) and bone fracture, is more frequent among military veterans and postmenopausal women. This study examined correlates of arthritis and relationships of arthritis with risks of developing CVD, bone fractures, and mortality among postmenopausal veteran and non-veteran women. We analyzed longitudinal data on 135,790 (3,436 veteran and 132,354 non-veteran) postmenopausal women from the Women's Health Initiative who were followed-up for an average of 16 years between enrollment (1993-1998) and February 17, 2024.

Purpose: There is a consistent relationship with greater ovulation frequency and increased risk of ovarian cancer. However, prior research on infertility, which may be associated with ovulation frequency through multiple mechanisms, and ovarian cancer has yielded conflicting results, possibly due to prior research conflating fertility treatment with infertility and restricting follow-up to premenopausal cases. Our objective was to determine the association between infertility and risk of postmenopausal ovarian cancer, overall and by histotype, in a population that had not received treatment with IVF.
