Importance: Data are limited on the prevalence and vascular distribution of multiterritorial atherosclerotic plaque and stenosis in community populations.

Objective: To investigate the prevalence and vascular distribution of multiterritorial atherosclerotic plaque and stenosis in older, community-dwelling populations in China.

Design, Setting, And Participants: This cross-sectional study was based on the baseline survey from the Polyvascular Evaluation for Cognitive Impairment and Vascular Events (PRECISE) study, a population-based prospective cohort study that enrolled community-dwelling adults aged 50 to 75 years based on cluster sampling from 6 villages and 4 living communities of Lishui city in southeast China.

The Predictive Ability of the Renal Resistive Index and Its Relationship to Duplex Ultrasound Waveform Propagation in the Aorta and Renal Arteries.

Ann Vasc Surg

October 2022

Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, Indianapolis, IN; Department of Vascular Surgery, Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis, IN. Electronic address:

Background: The objective is to investigate whether calculating the PPI (Pulse Pressure Index) and the RRI (Renal Resistive Index) using routinely collected Duplex ultrasound waveforms data obtained from the aorta and renal artery correlates and predicts renal function, and determine whether RRI is affected by the presence of a renal artery stenosis.

Methods: The records of 965 patients were evaluated. The RRI or pulsatility index of the aorta, renal artery, hilum, cortex, and medulla were measured with concurrent glomerular filtration rate GFR, Cr, PPI, and HR measurements, among which 75 patients had a 24-hour urine measured for CrCl, and 32 patients had aortic pulse pressure index (API) calculated from the central aortic pressure measured with applanation tonometry.

Background: Three-dimensional (3D) printing technology is increasingly being utilized for preprocedural planning of interventional procedures. However, utility of 3D models of obstructive and clinically relevant renal artery disease has not been evaluated and could potentially assist in preprocedural planning of renal artery endovascular interventions.

Methods: Five patients with computed tomography angiography (CTA) of abdomen and pelvis who also subsequently underwent renal artery interventions were 3D printed retrospectively.

Introduction: Androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) is a key treatment modality in the management of prostate cancer (PCa), especially for patients with metastatic disease. Increasing evidences suggest that patients who received ADT have increased incidence of diabetes, myocardial infarction, stroke, and even mortality. It is important to understand the pathophysiological mechanisms on how ADT increases cardiovascular risk and induces cardiovascular events, which would provide important information for potential implementation of preventive measures.

Background/aim: Suramin is a potent angiogenesis inhibitor in rodents and attenuates placental development in rat pregnancy. We aimed to produce preeclampsia-like syndrome by suramin administration in rats and to investigate the functional responses in aortic, renal, and uterine arteries.

Materials And Methods: Pregnant and nonpregnant wistar rats received suramin (100 mg/kg, intraperitoneal) or equal volume of saline on days 10 and 11.
