Salt stress is a significant environmental factor that impedes maize growth and yield. Exogenous 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA) has been shown to mitigate the detrimental effects of various environmental stresses on plants. However, its regulatory role in the photosynthesis mechanisms of maize seedlings under salt stress remains poorly understood.

Environmental stress on early life stages has severe consequences for individual performance and population dynamics. The internal incubation process of the symbiotic intertidal anemone Anthopleura hermaphroditica ends when the juveniles leave the gastrovascular cavity of the adult, at which moment they are exposed to a highly stressful environment due to tidal changes and environmental radiation in the Quempillén estuary. To determine the cellular and physiological tolerance capabilities of juvenile anemones to changes in salinity and environmental radiation resulting from the abandonment of the gastrovascular cavity, an experiment with an orthogonal design was performed on individuals exposed to four levels of salinity (30.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a promising noninvasive tumor treatment modality that relies on generating reactive oxygen species (ROS) and requires an adequate oxygen supply to the target tissue. However, hypoxia is a common feature of solid tumors and profoundly restricts the anti-tumor efficacy of PDT. In recent years, scholars have focused on exploring nanomaterial-based strategies for oxygen supplementation and integrating non-oxygen-consuming treatment approaches to overcome the hypoxic limitations of PDT.

Light is a vital regulator of photosynthesis, energy production, plant growth, and morphogenesis. Although these key physiological processes are well understood, the effects of light quality on the pigment content, oxidative stress, reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, antioxidant defense systems, and biomass yield of plants remain largely unexplored. In this study, we applied different light-emitting diode (LED) treatments, including white light, red light, blue light, and a red+blue (1:1) light combination, to evaluate the traits mentioned above in alfalfa ( L.

Excitation energy transfer between the photochemically active protein complexes is key for photosynthetic processes. Phototrophic organisms like cyanobacteria experience subtle changes in irradiance under natural conditions. Such changes need adjustments to the excitation energy transfer between the photosystems for sustainable growth.
