Introduction: Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) is associated with acute leukemia. DIC prevalence and clinical consequences are complex and varies across acute leukemia subtypes. The International Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis (ISTH) scoring system is used for the detection of overt DIC.

Heat stroke is characterised by hyperthermia and acute encephalopathy. We describe a rare case of classical heat stroke secondary to prolonged sauna use with multiorgan sequelae including seizures, liver injury, kidney injury, disseminated intravascular coagulation, rhabdomyolysis and type 2 myocardial infarction. The patient was treated with external cooling, intravenous fluid therapy and blood products, and made a full recovery without need for advanced organ support.

Hematological emergencies are critical medical conditions that require immediate attention due to their rapid progression and life-threatening nature. As various examples, hypercalcemia, often associated with cancers such as multiple myeloma, can lead to severe neurological and cardiac dysfunction. Hyperleukocytosis, common in acute myeloid leukemias, increases the risk of leukostasis and multiorgan failure.

Background: Acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) is frequently associated with disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), leading to potentially life-threatening bleeding. Compared to bleeding, thromboses are a less commonly encountered problem.
Objective: The objective of our study was to identify the incidence and predictive value of demographic data, clinical-laboratory parameters, and thrombosis risk assessment models (RAMs) for venous thromboembolism (VTE) in patients with APL.

Systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) in donkeys is observed to be secondary to colic, diarrhea or pleuropneumonia, among other disorders. Horses with SIRS develop secondary disturbances such as hyperlipemia, laminitis, disseminated intravascular coagulopathy, and hemodynamic and cardiac derangements, which impair their prognosis and increase the mortality rate. In donkeys, no information is available on the effect of experimentally induced endotoxemia in the cardiovascular system.
