The blood-brain barrier (BBB) is a crucial structure that maintains brain homeostasis by regulating the entry of molecules and cells from the bloodstream into the central nervous system (CNS). Neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, as well as ischemic stroke, compromise the integrity of the BBB. This leads to increased permeability and the infiltration of harmful substances, thereby accelerating neurodegeneration.

Background: FAO/WHO introduced food-based dietary guidelines (FBDG) to promote healthy dietary habits. To translate the FBDG, optimized food-based recommendations (FBR) can be developed using linear programming (LP) to address problem nutrients. Flavor and taste are critical factors influencing consumer attraction for meat, shaping preferences and commercial demand. This review examines conventional and novel approaches to flavor and taste creation in the meat business, highlighting ways that improve sensory profiles and meet consumer demands. Conventional methods, such as aging and marination, are analyzed in conjunction with new technologies, including enzymatic treatment, fermentation, genetic treatments to alter texture and enhance umami.

Bruises can affect the appearance and nutritional value of apples and cause economic losses. Therefore, the accurate detection of bruise levels and bruise time of apples is crucial. In this paper, we proposed a method that combines a self-designed multispectral imaging system with deep learning to accurately detect the level and time of bruising on apples.
