Bacillus subtilis transformation was conducted in the presence of dimethylsulfoxide and polyethyleneglycol. B. subtilis transformation was most frequent under the effect of 0.1% dimethylsulfoxide and was not altered significantly by polyethyleneglycol. As suggested, an increase of the transformation frequency was associated with the change of the membrane permeability under the influence of dimethylsulfoxide of with the altered activity of the membrane DNase.

microorganisms play an important role in the zearalenone (ZEA) biotransformation process in natural environments. The phosphotransferase pathway in is both widespread and relatively well conserved. However, the reaction kinetics of these phosphotransferases remain poorly understood, and their catalytic activities are suboptimal.

Food packaging industries are growing to meet consumer demand and prevent pollution by adopting significant biopolymer advancements. Therefore, this study aimed to develop functionally active chitosan (CS)/polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)-based biopolymer films and evaluate the effect of Justicia Adhatoda extract (JAE), pure quercetin (Q), and CS-capped quercetin nanoparticles ((Q) NPs) on sustainable bread packaging. CS was successfully loaded onto (Q) by the one-pot method, which was confirmed by light absorption spectroscopy (UV), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and X-ray diffraction (XRD).

Background: The rise of antibiotic-resistant pathogens has intensified the search for novel antimicrobial agents. This study aimed to isolate from local soil samples and evaluate its antimicrobial properties, along with optimizing the production of bioactive compounds.
Methods: Soil samples were collected from local regions, processed, and analysed for Streptomyces strains isolation using morphological characteristics and molecular identification through 16S rRNA gene PCR assay.

In this study, brown macroalgae Hormophysta triquetra (HT) collected from the Qatari coast is used to biosynthesize silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) from its aqueous (AQ), chloroform: methanol (MCF), and ethanolic extracts (ET). The NPs are characterized using Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Gas chromatography/Mass spectrometry (GC/MS) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The NPs were evaluated for their antibacterial activities by disc-diffusion method and their minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) were assessed.

Tea, one of the most popular beverages worldwide, generates a substantial amount of spent leaves, often directly discarded although they may still contain valuable compounds. This study aims to optimize the extraction of polyphenols from spent black tea (SBT) and spent green tea (SGT) leaves while also exploring their antioxidant and antibacterial properties. Response surface methodology was utilized to determine the optimal experimental conditions for extracting polyphenols from SBT and SGT.
