In 13 subjects with ALS, we studied the safety and pharmacokinetic properties of Procysteine, a cysteine prodrug that increases levels of intracellular glutathione. We found that oral administration of Procysteine was safe. Procysteine enters CSF after both IV and oral dosing and accumulates to significant levels in CSF. We also observed that CSF levels of glutathione fall dramatically with aging.

B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (B-cell ALL) is a common haematologic cancer in children and adults. About 10 percent of children and 50 percent of adults fail to achieve a histological complete remission or subsequently relapse despite current anti-leukaemia drug therapies and/or haematopoietic cell transplants. Several new immune therapies including monoclonal antibodies and chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T-cells are proved safe and effective in this setting.

Introduction: Paediatric psychopharmacology involves the application of psychotropic agents to the treatment of children and adolescents with mental disorders and gathered knowledge from child and adolescent psychiatry (CAP), neurology, paediatrics and pharmacology. Defining elements of this discipline are: the metabolism of drugs is different in children than in adults (pharmacokinetics), the developing brain reacts specifically to the drug (pharmaco dynamics), and psychopathology itself is not differentiated yet. To make and overview of specifics in psychopharmacological use in CAP and emphasize some experiences from Bosnia and Herzegovina in that field.

Post-kala-azar dermal Leishmaniasis (PKDL) is one of the important neglected tropical diseases, which has a tremendous epidemiological significance, being the reservoir of kala-azar. Relapse and resistance to treatment along with the lack of a drug of choice and consensus treatment guideline pose a significant problem in the management of PKDL. The aim of this article was to review the available therapeutic options for PKDL, with special emphasis on their pharmaco-dynamics, pharmaco-kinetics, effectiveness, safety, tolerability, and cost factor.

Objectives: Intra-articular injection of sinomenine (SN) is an effective treatment method for knee osteoarthritis (OA), however, SN could be eliminated quickly in vivo. To extend the residence time of SN in the joint cavity, the SN-hyaluronic acid (HA) conjugate was prepared previously. This study was performed to evaluate the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of SN-HA conjugate after intra-articular administration for the treatment of OA.

Multi-components Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) treats various complex diseases (multi-etiologies and multi-symptoms) via herbs interactions to exert curative efficacy with less adverse effects. However, the ancient Chinese compatibility theory of herbs formula still remains ambiguous. Presently, this combination principle is dissected through a systems pharmacology study on the mechanism of action of a representative TCM formula, (HXZQ) prescription, on the treatment of functional dyspepsia (FD), a chronic or recurrent clinical disorder of digestive system, as typical gastrointestinal (GI) diseases which burden human physical and mental health heavily and widely.
