We evaluated bleeding in a prospective randomized study of 67 patients undergoing primary hip arthroplasty. In group A, all dissections were made with the diathermy knife and in group B, we used the scalpel. In both groups, bleeding points were coagulated with diathermy. The surgical approach, use of anti-coagulants and method of anesthesia were similar in the two groups. We found that use of a diathermy knife does not significantly reduce bleeding.

In the last decades there has been progress in the treatment of essential tremor (TE) especially in the surgical field and to a lesser extent in the pharmacological field. Today, endoscopy plays a decisive role not only in the detection of colorectal adenomas and carcinomas, but also in the treatment of precancerous lesions, in particular flat adenomas and early carcinomas. In recent years, endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) has become increasingly important alongside classic polypectomy and mucosal resection after saline injection using a snare (EMR). Using ESD the lesion is marked, injected submucosally using viscous substances and the mucosa incised and tunneled with a transparent cap and a fine diathermy knife.

Delays in the diagnosis and treatment of endometrial cancer negatively impact patient survival. The aim of this study was to establish whether rapid evaporative ionisation mass spectrometry using the iKnife can accurately distinguish between normal and malignant endometrial biopsy tissue samples in real time, enabling point-of-care (POC) diagnoses. Pipelle biopsy samples were obtained from consecutive women needing biopsies for clinical reasons.

Background: The trade-off between comparative effectiveness and reproductive morbidity of different treatment methods for cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) remains unclear. We aimed to determine the risks of treatment failure and preterm birth associated with various treatment techniques.
Methods: In this systematic review and network meta-analysis, we searched MEDLINE, Embase, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials database for randomised and non-randomised studies reporting on oncological or reproductive outcomes after CIN treatments from database inception until March 9, 2022, without language restrictions.
