In patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI), thrombolytic therapy and revascularization strategies allow complete recanalization of occluded epicardial coronary arteries. However, approximately 35% of patients still experience myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury, which contributing to increased AMI mortality. Therefore, an accurate understanding of myocardial I/R injury is important for preventing and treating AMI.

The complex pollution and nutrient-poor characteristics of surface waters result in the limited ability of conventional reactors to remove pollutants. In this study, a novel modified ceramsite material, modified with trivalent iron (Fe(III)) and fulvic acid (FA) to form ceramsite@Fe(III)@FA (HC), was used for the first time as a biocarrier to immobilize strain Cupriavidus sp. W12, constructing a biofilter to enhance nitrate (NO-N) removal in micro-polluted water.

Exposure to loud and/or prolonged noise damages cochlear hair cells and triggers downstream changes in synaptic and electrical activity in multiple brain regions, resulting in hearing loss and altered speech comprehension. It remains unclear however whether or not noise exposure also compromises the cochlear efferent system, a feedback pathway in the brain that fine-tunes hearing sensitivity in the cochlea. We examined the effects of noise-induced hearing loss on the spontaneous action potential (AP) firing pattern in mouse lateral olivocochlear (LOC) neurons.

Cardiomyocytes derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSC-CMs) possess tremendous advantage for cardiac regeneration. However, cell survival is challenging upon cell transplantation. Since microgravity can profoundly affect cellular properties, we investigated the effect of spaceflight on hiPSC-CMs.
