Article Synopsis
  • Plantar warts, benign growths on the feet caused by HPV, are tough to eliminate completely, often leading to reappearance; this study looks at a dual treatment approach.
  • Data from 10 patients with stubborn warts were analyzed after undergoing a combination of CO laser treatment and 5-ALA photodynamic therapy, yielding a 70% overall lesion clearance rate.
  • This combined therapy proved to be effective and safe, suggesting it could be a good alternative for treating difficult plantar wart cases with minimal side effects.

The aqueous solution cast method was used to create the biodegradable polymer nanocomposite (PNC) films from a blend of poly (vinyl alcohol) PVA and poly (vinyl pyrrolidone) PVP (70/30 wt %) and FeO nanoparticles (NPs). These PNC films were characterized using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy SEM, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy FTIR, and ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy. XRD and FTIR results indicate that Fe NPs interact with the host polymer.

Unveiling distinct bonding patterns in noble gas hydrides interference energy analysis.

Despite their apparent simplicity, the helium hydride ion (HeH) and its analogues with heavier noble gas (Ng) atoms present intriguing challenges due to their unusual electronic structures and distinct ground-state heterolytic bond dissociation profiles. In this work, we employ modern valence bond calculations and the interference energy analysis to investigate the nature of the chemical bond in NgH (Ng = He, Ne, Ar). Our findings reveal that the energy well formation in their ground-state potential energy curves is driven by a reduction in kinetic energy caused by quantum interference, identical to cases of homolytic bond dissociation.

Objective: We hypothesized that attacking cancer cells by combining various modes of action can hinder them from taking the chance to evolve resistance to treatment. Incorporation of photodynamic therapy (PDT) with oncolytic virotherapy might be a promising dual approach to cancer treatment.

Methods: NDV AMHA1 strain as virotherapy in integration with aminolaevulinic acid (ALA) using low power He-Ne laser as PDT in the existing work was examined against breast cancer cells derived from Iraqi cancer patients named (AMJ13).

Exploring Ion Polarizabilities and Their Correlation with van der Waals Radii: A Theoretical Investigation.

Polarizability (α) is a fundamental property which measures the tendency of the electron cloud of an atom, ion, or molecule to be distorted by electric field. Polarizability contributes to important physical properties such as molecular interactions or dielectric constants; thus, it is essential to have accurate polarizabilities in molecular simulations. However, it remains a challenge to develop polarizable force fields (FFs) for ions in computational chemistry.
