Surviving the chaos of merger mania.

Caring

Shands HomeCare, USA.

Published: October 1996

Mergers are the watchword of the decade as managed care changes how health care is delivered. Beyond changing day-to-day operations, mergers can affect staff personally. How can home care and hospice managers help their staff to keep priorities straight and morale high?

All cells in the human body, including cancer cells, possess specific electrical properties crucial for their functions. These properties are notably different between normal and cancerous cells. Cancer cells are characterized by autonomous oscillations and damped electromagnetic field (EMF) activation.

A underlying complex dynamical behavior of double Allee effects in predator-prey system is studied in this article to understand the predator-prey relation more intensely from different aspects. We first propose a system with the Caputo sense fractional-order predator-prey system incorporating the Allee effect in prey populations to explain how the memory effect can change the different emergent states. Local stability analysis is analyzed by applying Matignon's condition for the FDE system.

Atypical mediastinal mass in the fetus: a review of the literature.

Arch Gynecol Obstet

January 2025

Department of Congenital Cardiac Surgery, IRCCS Policlinico San Donato, 20097, San Donato, Milan, Italy.

Objectives: Congenital thoracic masses (CTMs) are suspected in presence of solid or cystic thoracic lesions at ultrasound. The common typical fetal CTMs encompass: hyperechogenic lung lesions such as congenital pulmonary airway malformation (CPAM), broncopulmonary sequestration (PS) and congenital high airway obstruction syndrome (CHAOS); less common solid thoracic masses are mediastinal/pericardial tumors as rhabdomyoma and teratoma. The aim of our study is to gather the available evidence on cases of atypical CTMs of difficult classification, for which the diagnosis remains often uncertain.

As time progresses, the transmission pattern of a disease may change. To more precisely determine the spread behaviors of the disease, we develop non-autonomous topological and random spread models. In this article, we validate the survival characteristics of these spread models and elucidate their connection with mixing properties using the associated ξ-matrices or spread mean matrices.

We study dynamical localization in an ultracold atom confined in an optical lattice that is simultaneously shaken by two competing pulsatile modulations with different amplitudes, periods, and waveforms. The effects of finite-width time pulses, modulation waveforms, and commensurable and incommensurable driving periods are investigated. We describe a particularly complex scenario and conclude that dynamical localization can survive, or even increase, when a periodic modulation is replaced by a quasiperiodic one of equal amplitude.
