The COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the importance of virus surveillance in public health and wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE) has emerged as a non-invasive, cost-effective method for monitoring SARS-CoV-2 and its variants at the community level. Unfortunately, current variant surveillance methods depend heavily on updated genomic databases with data derived from clinical samples, which can become less sensitive and representative as clinical testing and sequencing efforts decline. In this paper, we introduce HERCULES (High-throughput Epidemiological Reconstruction and Clustering for Uncovering Lineages from Environmental SARS-CoV-2), an unsupervised method that uses long-read sequencing of a single 1 Kb fragment of the Spike gene.

Background: Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a rare disease, most prevalent in children. Ultrasound is a noninvasive, cheap, and widely available technique. However, systematic elucidation of sonographic features of LCH and treatment related follow-up are relatively few, resulting in overall underestimation of the clinical value of ultrasound in diagnosing and monitoring LCH.

With developments in computer science and technology, great progress has been made in three-dimensional (3D) ultrasound. Recently, ultrasound-based 3D bone modelling has attracted much attention, and its accuracy has been studied for the femur, tibia, and spine. The use of ultrasound allows data for bone surface to be acquired non-invasively and without radiation.

The T22 protocol is an animal model of forced internal desynchronization, in which rats are exposed to an 11:11 light-dark (LD) cycle. This non-invasive protocol induces the dissociation of circadian rhythms in adult rats, making it possible to study the effects of circadian disruption on physiological and behavioral processes such as learning, memory, and emotional responses. However, the effects of circadian dissociation during other developmental stages, such as adolescence, remain unexplored.

Background: Interest in noninvasive treatment of basal cell carcinoma (BCC) has been increasing. For superficial BCC, it has been demonstrated that imiquimod cream, 5%, has high long-term efficacy, but for nodular BCC (nBCC), long-term evidence is sparse.
Objectives: To evaluate whether superficial curettage (SC) followed by imiquimod cream, 5%, is noninferior to surgical excision (SE) in nBCC after 5 years of treatment.
