This paper reviews the current use of lasers in urology--CO 2, Nd:YAG, KTP/532, Diode, pulsed dye--and describes the most common procedures performed with them. It discusses surgical techniques of lasers that are expected to be useful to urologists in the future and concludes that lasers are important tools for this specialty.

This study describes procedures for embedding digital information into additively manufactured components as well as procedures for readout and tensile testing. Embedded digital codes were printed inside ASTM E8/E8M dumbbells using Direct Metal Laser Melting (DMLS) with an EOS M290 printer. The codes were configured as either ellipsoids or prolate spheroids in patterns given by the Cantor dust fractal.

Phase transitions in the mantle control its internal dynamics and structure. The post-spinel transition marks the upper-lower mantle boundary, where ringwoodite dissociates into bridgmanite plus ferropericlase, and its Clapeyron slope regulates mantle flow across it. This interaction has previously been assumed to have no lateral spatial variations, based on the assumption of a linear post-spinel boundary in pressure and temperature.

Mid-infrared spectral analysis has long been recognized as the most accurate noninvasive blood glucose measurement method, yet no practical compact mid-infrared blood glucose sensor has ever passed the accuracy benchmark set by the USA Food and Drug Administration (FDA): to substitute for the finger-pricking glucometers in the market, a new sensor must first show that 95% of their glucose measurements have errors below 15% of these glucometers. Although recent innovative exploitations of the well-established Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy have reached such FDA accuracy benchmarks, an FTIR spectrometer is too bulky. The advancements of quantum cascade lasers (QCLs) can lead to FTIR spectrometers of reduced size, but compact QCL-based noninvasive blood glucose sensors are not yet available.

Nevertheless, challenges persist, including substantial equipment costs, inadequate after-sales support, technological barriers, and limitations in customization.
