As a result of participating with 28 other healthcare organizations in a study on benchmarking the hospital admitting process, St. Marys Hospital Medical Center, Madison, Wisconsin, was able to speed-up its admitting process and improve its telephone system to serve patients better. St. Marys switched from an admitting system to a preadmitting system, coordinated its admitting system information, and improved its ability to identify triage patients.
