Ultrasound (US) can easily penetrate media with excellent spatial precision corresponding to its wavelength. Naturally, US plays a pivotal role in the echolocation abilities of certain mammals such as bats and dolphins. In addition, medical US generated by transducers interact with tissues via delivering ultrasonic energy in the modes of heat generation, exertion of acoustic radiation force (ARF), and acoustic cavitation.

This study aims to optimize the process for preparing chitosan-based ultrasound-coupled hydrogel pads and investigate their application potential in ultrasonography. Chitosan, 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid, and N-isopropylacrylamide were used as the main materials to prepare chitosan-based ultrasound-coupled hydrogel pads. The free-radical polymerization conditions were optimized by a three-factor, three-level orthogonal test with the tensile strength and ultrasound image quality of the hydrogel pads as evaluation indicators.

Purpose: Outbreak of COVID-19 caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has become a global pandemic, leading to over 6 million deaths worldwide. Pregnant women suffer from a higher risk facing the pandemic COVID-19, while their related clinical information is limited.
Methods: The clinical information of SARS-CoV-2 positive (n = 30) and negative pregnant women (n = 134) in Tianjin First Central Hospital (from November 30, 2022, to January 20, 2023) were collected.

Chemotherapy is the primary therapy for colorectal cancer. However, its efficacy has been limited by chemoresistance, which is mainly caused by inadequate intratumoral drug accumulation and immunosuppressive microenvironments.
