Many challenges face the pharmacist in a combat zone hospital. The 13th Evacuation Hospital, Wisconsin Army National Guard was deployed in support of Operation Desert Storm. Its mission before and during the ground campaign identified key areas where pharmacy involvement assisted in the provision of care. Special skills and subject areas were determined. This article reviews the authors' experiences and offers suggestions to aid pharmacy personnel in preparation for future deployment.

Human papillomavirus (HPV)-associated head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HPV-positive HNSCC) has distinct biological characteristics from HPV-negative HNSCC. Using an AI-based analytical platform on meta cohorts, we profiled expression patterns of viral transcripts and HPV viral genome integration, and classified the tumor microenvironment (TME). Unsupervised clustering analysis revealed five distinct and novel TME subtypes across patients (immune-enriched, highly immune and B-cell enriched, fibrotic, immune-desert, and immune-enriched luminal).

Mining activities in arid regions of China have led to severe environmental degradation, including soil erosion, vegetation loss, and contamination of soil and water resources. These impacts are particularly pronounced in abandoned mining areas, where the cessation of mining operations has left vast landscapes unrehabilitated. In response, the Chinese government has implemented a series of legal and regulatory frameworks, such as the "Mine Environmental Protection and Restoration Program", aimed at promoting ecological restoration in these areas.
