The integrity of the blood-retina barrier (BRB) is crucial for phototransduction and vision, by tightly restricting transport of molecules between the blood and surrounding neuronal cells. Breakdown of the BRB leads to the development of retinal diseases. Here, we show that Netrin-1/Unc5b and Norrin/Lrp5 signaling establish a zonated endothelial cell gene expression program that controls BRB integrity.

Alarmins are classified by their release from damaged or ruptured cells. Many alarmins have been found to increase vascular tone and oppose endothelium-dependent dilatation (EDD). Interleukin (IL)-33 plays a prominent role in lung injury and can be released during vascular injury and in chronic studies found to be cardioprotective.

Objective: Recent randomized controlled trials have demonstrated a notable prevalence of immediate technical failures in percutaneous vascular interventions (PVIs) for complex arterial lesions associated with chronic limb-threatening ischemia. Current imaging modalities present inherent limitations in identifying these lesions, making it challenging to determine the most suitable candidates for PVI. We present a novel preprocedural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) histology protocol for identifying lesions that might present a higher rate of immediate and midterm PVI failure.

The hemodynamics in Fontan patients with single ventricles rely on favorable flow and energetics, especially in the absence of a subpulmonary ventricle. Age-related changes in energetics for extracardiac and lateral tunnel Fontan procedures are not well understood. Vorticity (VOR) and viscous dissipation rate (VDR) are two descriptors that can provide insights into flow dynamics and dissipative areas in Fontan pathways, potentially contributing to power loss.

Electronic health record (EHR) datasets are statistically powerful but are subject to ascertainment bias and missingness. Using the Mass General Brigham multi-institutional EHR, we approximated a community-based cohort by sampling patients receiving longitudinal primary care between 2001-2018 (Community Care Cohort Project [C3PO], n = 520,868). We utilized natural language processing (NLP) to recover vital signs from unstructured notes.
