The main objectives of this work are to validate a 1D-0D unsteady solver with a distributed stenosis model for the patient-specific estimation of resting haemodynamic indices and to assess the sensitivity of instantaneous wave-free ratio (iFR) predictions to uncertainties in input parameters. We considered 52 patients with stable coronary artery disease, for which 81 invasive iFR measurements were available. We validated the performance of our solver compared to 3D steady-state and transient results and invasive measurements.

Background And Objectives: The cost and complexity associated with animal testing are significantly reduced by using mock circulatory loops prior. Novel mock circulatory loops allow us to test biomedical devices preclinically due to their flexibility, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. The presented work describes the development of a hardware-in-the-loop platform to emulate human physiology for the Istanbul Heart (iHeart-II) LVAD.

Hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) is a collective term applied to severe congenital cardiac malformations, characterised by a combination of abnormalities mainly affecting the left ventricle, associated valves, and ascending aorta. Although in clinical practice HLHS is usually sub-categorised based on the patency of the mitral and aortic (left-sided) valves, it is also possible to comprehensively categorise HLHS into defined sub-groups based on the left ventricular morphology. Here, we discuss the published human-based studies of the ventricular myocardium in HLHS, evaluating whether the available evidence is in keeping with this ventricular morphology concept.

Aortico-left ventricular tunnel is a very rare congenital cardiac anomaly, always arises from the right coronary sinus and enters the left ventricle. However, aortico-left ventricular tunnel associated with Takayasu's arteritis has not been described so far in the literature. Here, we present an unusual case of aortico-left ventricular tunnel associated with Takayasu's arteritis in a 44-year-old man.
