BK polyomavirus remains a vexing issue in kidney transplantation. There are no antiviral drugs, and solely reducing immunosuppression is recommended for management. However, evidence from randomized controlled studies lacks defining clearance of BK polyomavirus-DNAemia and/or nephropathy as a primary outcome.

Background: Kidney transplantation (kTx) is by far the most effective method of treating end-stage renal disease, with immunosuppressive therapy being obligatory for all, except identical twins. Despite kTx being the most effective treatment for end-stage renal disease, the patients face significant morbidity. They are often burdened with diabetes, anaemia, lipid disorders, all of which pose heightened risks for cardiovascular disease.

The literature regarding robotic-assisted radical cystectomy in kidney transplant recipients is limited. We present the first reported case of robotic-assisted radical cystectomy with a full intracorporeal orthotopic neobladder in a kidney transplant recipient. A 36-year-old man was diagnosed with muscle-invasive urothelial carcinoma 12 years after kidney transplantation.

The potential of everolimus in reducing hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) among recipients following liver transplantation has been reported. This nationwide population-based quasi-cohort study investigated whether combining everolimus with calcineurin inhibitor therapy affects the risk of HCC and extrahepatic cancers compared to a time-duration-matched cohort of recipients not receiving everolimus. Using data covering the entire population from Korea, liver transplant recipients who had initiated immunosuppressants between June 2015 and February 2020 were collected and divided into two groups: the everolimus combination and non-combination groups.

Everolimus presents significant dosing challenges due to between- and within-patient pharmacokinetic variabilities. This study aimed to develop and validate a model-informed precision dosing strategy for everolimus in liver transplant recipients. The dosing strategy was initially developed using retrospective data, employing nonlinear mixed-effects modeling.
