Over the past decade, there has been a significant increase in cases with syphilis and HIV coinfection. Concordant infection with HIV can alter the clinical course and response to treatment in syphilis. We present a case of a patient with an intrathecal pump who experienced an unrecognized partial pocket fill, leading to an atypical opioid withdrawal characterized by akathisia. A 57-year-old female with multiple myeloma presented to an emergency department with new-onset akathisia requiring admission. Eight weeks prior, her intrathecal pump was refilled with morphine, bupivacaine, and ziconotide.

Postoperative pancreatitis is an unusual complication of upper abdominal surgery that can result in severe morbidity and has been associated with postoperative death. It can be caused by trauma to the surface of the gland, injury to pancreatic ducts, vascular compromise, ductal obstruction within the pancreas parenchyma or because of duodenal stagnation. Our database of peritoneal surface malignancy patients was surveyed in a search for patients who manifested signs and symptoms of severe postoperative pancreatitis.

Ectopic breast tissue (EBT) represents a congenital anomaly caused by incomplete regression of mammary ridges at the time of embryonic development. Typically, EBT presents along the mammary line, although usually in the axillary region, it has been located occasionally in unusual sites such as the vulva. Though relatively rare, it is generally subject to a wide range of pathologies that afflict normal breast tissue, encompassing both benign and malignant transformations.

Background: Liver injury manifesting as hepatic enzyme abnormalities, has been occasionally identified to be a feature of primary or secondary Addison's disease, an uncommon endocrine disease characterized by adrenal insufficiency. There have been no more than 30 reported cases of liver injury explicitly attributed to Addison's disease. Liver injury resulting from adrenal insufficiency due to glucocorticoid withdrawal is exceptionally rarer.
