This study was conducted to identify bilirubin in deciduous teeth obtained from two patients with a history of severe liver dysfunction. Teeth were histologically analyzed and bilirubin was extracted and quantified spectrophotometrically. Histological analysis revealed a green line in the dentine running parallel to the incremental lines. A chloroform/methanol/acetic acid (30:10:0.5, v/v) extract of the teeth was evaporated and the residue dissolved in chloroform. Absorption spectra were prepared before and after the diazo reaction. The absorption maximum shifted from 450 nm before to 540 nm after the diazo reaction and was higher than that of normal deciduous teeth. These results indicate that the discolouration of teeth in patients with severe liver dysfunction is due to bilirubin deposition.

Dental pulp stem cells hold significant prospects for tooth regeneration and repair. However, a comprehensive understanding of the molecular differences between dental pulp stem cells (DPSC, from permanent teeth) and stem cells from human exfoliated deciduous teeth (SHED, from deciduous teeth) remains elusive, which is crucial for optimizing their therapeutic potential. To address this gap, we employed a novel data-independent acquisition (DIA) proteomics approach to compare the protein expression profiles of DPSC and SHED.

Aim: The objective of the present study is to assess and compare the effectiveness of two different anesthetic agents, namely, 4% articaine and 2% lignocaine, in the extraction of primary molar teeth in children.
Materials And Methods: The study included 25 children requiring bilateral extractions of primary molar, with extraction performed on one side with 4% articaine and the contralateral side extraction with 2% lignocaine at two separate appointments. The anesthetic efficacy was evaluated objectively by assessing pain and the child's behavior at baseline, during injection and during extraction using the sound, eye, and motor (SEM) scale objectively, and subjectively using the faces pain rating scale (FPS).

Background: Achieving a stable vasculature is crucial for tissue regeneration. Endothelial cells initiate vascular morphogenesis, followed by mural cells that stabilize new vessels. This study investigated the in vivo effects of Sema4D-Plexin-B1 signaling on stem cells from human exfoliated deciduous teeth (SHED)-supported angiogenesis, focusing on its mechanism in PDGF-BB secretion.

Hair graying is one of the common visible signs of human aging, resulting from decreased or abolished melanogenesis due to the depletion of melanocyte stem cells through excess accumulation of oxidative stress. Cell-free therapy using a conditioned medium (CM) of mesenchymal stem cells has been highlighted in the field of regenerative medicine owing to its potent therapeutic effects with lower regulatory hurdles and safety risk. Recently, we demonstrated that a CM of an immortalized stem cell line from human exfoliated deciduous teeth (SHED) has protective effects against a mouse model of ulcer formation via antioxidative and angiogenic activities mediated by HGF and VEGF.
