The primary studies of epigallocatechin-3-gallate in improving brain injury induced by chronic high-altitude natural environment in rats by 7.0T high-field MR imaging.

Arch Biochem Biophys

February 2025

Department of Radiology, West China Hospital, Sichuan University, Chengdu, PR China; Molecular Imaging Laboratory, West China Hospital, Sichuan University, Chengdu, Sichuan, PR China. Electronic address:

Background: Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) is one of the most abundant and important bioactive polyphenolic compounds in green tea. However, despite its potent antioxidant effects, its neuroprotective effects on chronic high altitude (HA)-induced nerve damage have not been reported. The purpose of this study is to use quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) with pathology to dynamically evaluate the status of brain damage and the effect of EGCG.

Iron deficiency in dogs suffering from atopic dermatitis.

BMC Vet Res

November 2024

Messerli Research Institute, Department of Interdisciplinary Life Sciences, University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna, Veterinärplatz 1, Vienna, A-1210, Austria.

Background: Iron-deficiency is associated with increased morbidity and mortality in non-communicable diseases. However, iron parameters are rarely assessed in dogs. Here, we aimed to assess and correlate iron parameters in dogs suffering from Canine Atopic Dermatitis (CAD) compared to non-atopic, healthy dogs.

Identification of Plasma Protein Biomarkers for Predicting Lung Cancer.

Anticancer Res

November 2024

Target Link Therapeutics Incorporation, Seoul, Republic of Korea;

Background/aim: Lung cancer remains a leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide, necessitating the development of effective early diagnostic strategies. Despite advancements in imaging and screening technologies, late-stage diagnoses remain common, limiting treatment options and reducing survival rates. Thus, there is a critical need for reliable, minimally invasive biomarkers to improve early detection and patient outcomes.

Arylacetamide deacetylase regulates hepatic iron homeostasis to protect against carbon tetrachloride-induced ferroptosis.

Arch Toxicol

December 2024

Drug Metabolism and Toxicology, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kanazawa University, Kakuma-machi, Kanazawa, 920-1192, Japan.

Arylacetamide deacetylase (AADAC) catalyzes the hydrolysis of small molecules containing ester and amide bonds. Recently, it has been reported that AADAC can suppress reactive oxygen species production in cancer cells. This study aimed to elucidate the possibility that AADAC protects against drug-induced liver injury accompanied by oxidative stress and to explore its molecular mechanisms.
