Oblique facial clefts constitute approximately 0.20% of all facial malformation cases in Japan and approximately 0.22% in other countries. In the present study, the proportion in our institute was approximately 0.21%, which is almost equal to that reported by WILSON et al. The ratio of male and female patients did not differ significantly from that in other countries.

Background: Deepening of the nasolabial fold (NLF), drooping of the nasal tip, and facial expressions perceived as angry face, are common esthetic concerns. However, no studies have correlated this set of signs and symptoms with common anatomical causes. We review anatomical considerations of the region and propose a combined treatment modality.

Introduction: The aim of this article is to present the diagnostic and therapeutic approach to unilateral posterior vertical insufficiency.
Material And Methods: The authors describe the management protocol.
Results: Posterior vertical insufficiency (PVI) manifests clinically as obliquity of the maxillo-mandibular occlusal plane and bicommissural line, and deviation of the chin.

Shock wave boundary/layer interactions (SWBLIs) are critical in high-speed aerodynamic flows, particularly within supersonic regimes, where unsteady dynamics can induce structural fatigue and degrade vehicle performance. Conventional measurement techniques, such as pressure-sensitive paint (PSP), face limitations in frequency response, calibration complexity, and intrusive instrumentation. Similarly, MEMS-based sensors, like Kulite sensors, present challenges in terms of intrusiveness, cost, and integration complexity.

This study investigated the optimal shape of glue-laminated timber beams using an analytical model of a slender beam, taking into account the anisotropy of its strength properties as well as boundary conditions at the oblique bottom face of the beam. A control theory problem was formulated in order to optimize the shape of the modeled beam. Two optimization tasks were considered: minimizing material usage (Vmin) for a fixed load-carrying capacity (LCC) of the beam and maximizing load-bearing capacity (Qmax) for a given volume of the beam.

Schwannomas (SCs) are benign tumors composed of neoplastic Schwann cells and are relatively uncommon intracranially. Although these tumors are frequently associated with neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2), they may also arise idiopathically, and their pathogenesis remains poorly understood. A 70-year-old Caucasian man presented with a two-month history of vertigo, gait imbalance, and decreased visual acuity in the left eye accompanied by photophobia, nausea, vomiting, and occasional headaches.
