Defective boron nitride aerogels by salt template synthesis: A green adsorbent for tetracycline removal.

Environ Res

Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Xi'an University of Technology, Xi'an 710048, PR China; Shaanxi Province Key Laboratory of Corrosion and Protection, Xi'an University of Technology, Xi'an 710048, PR China. Electronic address:

Hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) exhibits unique application potential in water purification due to its large specific surface area, high porosity, and chemical inertness. Designing adsorbents with highly active adsorption sites is one effective method to improve their adsorption capacities. In this study, porous h-BN aerogels containing multiple defect types (DP-BN) were synthesized by using salt templates.

High efficiency adsorption of boron by sodium alginate/polyethyleneimine/polysiloxane composite aerogel.

Int J Biol Macromol

January 2025

School of Light Industry & Chemical Engineering, Dalian Polytechnic University, Dalian 116034, PR China. Electronic address:

In this work, a new biomass boron adsorbent of N-methyl-D-glucosamine embedded sodium alginate/polyethyleneimine/polysiloxane composite aerogel (SKPN) was reported. Relevant characterization proved that the aerogel exhibited 3D porous structure with plenty of hydroxyl and amino functional groups, which was beneficial to the diffusion of boron and the chelation between boron and SKPN. Various parameters affecting the adsorption performance including pH value, contact time initial concentration, temperature and reusability were investigated.

Institute for Integrated Radiation and Nuclear Science, Kyoto University, 2-1010 Asashiro-nishi, Kumatori-cho, Sennan-gun, Osaka, 590-0494, JAPAN.

Clinical research in boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) has been conducted worldwide. Currently, the Monte Carlo (MC) method is the only dose calculation algorithm implemented in the treatment planning system for the clinical treatment of BNCT. We previously developed the MC-RD calculation method, which combines the MC method and the removal-diffusion (RD) equation, for fast dose calculation in BNCT.

Peroxynitrite (ONOO/ONOOH) is a short-lived but highly reactive species that is formed in the diffusion-controlled reaction between nitric oxide and the superoxide radical anion. It can oxidize certain biomolecules and has been considered as a key cellular oxidant formed under various pathophysiological conditions. It is crucial to selectively detect and quantify ONOO to determine its role in biological processes.

Diamond grinding wheels have been widely used to remove the residual features of cast parts, such as parting lines and pouring risers. However, diamond grains are prone to chemical wear as a result of their strong interaction with ferrous metals. To mitigate this wear, this study proposes the use of a novel water-based hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) as a minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) during the grinding of cast steel and conducted the grinding experiment and molecular dynamics simulation.
