A multiple-timing analysis of temporal ratcheting.

Eur Phys J E Soft Matter

Department of Chemical Engineering, Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA, USA.

We develop a two-timing perturbation analysis to provide quantitative insights on the existence of temporal ratchets in an exemplary system of a particle moving in a tank of fluid in response to an external vibration of the tank. We consider two-mode vibrations with angular frequencies and , where is a rational number. If is a ratio of odd and even integers (e.

We assessed the accuracy of a prototype radiation detector with a built in CMOS amplifier for use in dosimetry for high dose rate brachytherapy. The detectors were fabricated on two substrates of epitaxial high resistivity silicon. The radiation detection performance of prototypes has been tested by ion beam induced charge (IBIC) microscopy using a 5.

Seed damage caused by screw working bodies of agricultural machines reduces the seed quality and increases the total cost of crop production. This paper describes the impact interaction of a particle with screw flights when seeds are fed into the transportation zone. There are velocity dependences during the impact and reflection of seeds on the screw surface at the maximum distance of the radius from the screw rotation axis.

We determine the product of the expansion rate and angular-diameter distance at redshift z=2.3 from the anisotropy of Lyman-α (Lyα) forest correlations measured by the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS). Our result is the most precise from large-scale structure at z>1.
