Harmonic generation, a notable non-linear phenomenon, has promising applications in information processing. For spin-waves in ferromagnetic materials, great progress has been made in the generation higher harmonics, however probing the coherence of these higher harmonics is challenging. Here, using in-situ diamond sensors, we study the coherent harmonic generation of spin waves in a soft ferromagnet.

The interplay of electronic charge, spin, and orbital currents, coherently driven by picosecond long oscillations of light fields in spin-orbit coupled systems, is the foundation of emerging terahertz lightwave spintronics and orbitronics. The essential rules for how terahertz fields interact with these systems in a nonlinear way are still not understood. In this work, we demonstrate a universally applicable electronic nonlinearity originating from spin-orbit interactions in conducting materials, wherein the interplay of light-induced spin and orbital textures manifests.

Microcavity exciton polaritons (polaritons) as part-light part-matter quasiparticles garner considerable attention for Bose-Einstein condensation at elevated temperatures. Recently, halide perovskites have emerged as promising room-temperature polaritonic platforms because of their large exciton binding energies and superior optical properties. However, currently, inducing room-temperature nonequilibrium polariton condensation in perovskite microcavities requires optical pulsed excitations with high excitation densities.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe digital back-propagation (DBP) is an algorithm that can equalize the chromatic dispersion and nonlinearity in the coherent optical fiber communication system. However, the nonlinear equalization effect of traditional split-step Fourier method (SSFM)-based DBP is limited. This paper replaces the SSFM in DBP algorithm with the fourth-order Runge-Kutta in the interaction picture (RK4IP) method, and employs the Bayesian optimization algorithm (BOA) to optimize the coefficients in RK4IP-based DBP algorithm, then compares it with SSFM-based DBP algorithm, which is also optimized using BOA.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTransition metal phosphorus sulfides (MPS), a family of two-dimensional magnetic materials with a van der Waals structure, exhibit promising applications in nonlinear optical devices. The emergence of carrier coherence in MPS is a fascinating topic in coherently controlling the nonlinear effect (or other novel phenomena). Herein, we systematically investigated the third-order nonlinear optical responses of MPS (M = Ni, Fe, Mn) flake suspensions based on spatial self-phase modulation (SSPM) effect.
