The phononic crystals composed of soft materials have received extensive attention owing to the extraordinary behavior when undergoing large deformations, making it possible to provide tunable band gaps actively. However, the inverse designs of them mainly rely on the gradient-driven or gradient-free optimization schemes, which require sensitivity analysis or cause time-consuming, lacking intelligence and flexibility. To this end, a deep learning-based framework composed of a conditional variational autoencoder and multilayer perceptron is proposed to discover the mapping relation from the band gaps to the topology layout applied with prestress.

It has been observed in a wide variety of systems and length scales, ranging from the microscopic to the macroscopic. However, entanglement remains largely unexplored at the highest accessible energy scales.

Conventional gradient systems have several weaknesses including high cost and bulk. As a step towards addressing these while providing new degrees of freedom for spatial encoding and system design in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), a radio frequency (RF) gradient encoding system and pulse sequence for phase encoding using the Bloch-Siegert (BS) shift were developed. Optimized BS spatial encoding coils with bucking windings (counter-wound loops) were designed and constructed, along with compatible homogeneous imaging coils for excitation and signal reception.

Chemical exchange saturation transfer (CEST) MRI at 3 T suffers from low specificity due to overlapping CEST effects from multiple metabolites, while higher field strengths (B) allow for better separation of Z-spectral "peaks," aiding signal interpretation and quantification. However, data acquisition at higher B is restricted by equipment access, field inhomogeneity and safety issues. Herein, we aim to synthesize higher-B Z-spectra from readily available data acquired with 3 T clinical scanners using a deep learning framework.

Objective: Renal failure is a predictor of adverse outcomes in carotid revascularization. There has been debate regarding the benefit of revascularization in patients with severe chronic kidney disease or on dialysis.
Methods: Patients in the Vascular Quality Initiative undergoing transcarotid artery revascularization (TCAR), transfemoral carotid artery stenting (tfCAS), or CEA between 2016 and 2023 with an estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) of <30 mL/min/1.
