A highly electron-rich S,N heteroacene building block is developed and condensed with FIC and Cl-IC acceptors to furnish CT-F and CT-Cl, which exhibit near-infrared (NIR) absorption beyond 1000 nm. The C-shaped CT-F and CT-Cl self-assemble into a highly ordered 3D intermolecular packing network via multiple π-π interactions in the single crystal structures. The CT-F-based organic photovoltaic (OPV) achieved an impressive efficiency of 14.

The extraction and analysis of pitch underpin speech and music recognition, sound segregation, and other auditory tasks. Perceptually, pitch can be represented as a helix composed of two factors: height monotonically aligns with frequency, while chroma cyclically repeats at doubled frequencies. Although the early perceptual and neurophysiological mechanisms for extracting pitch from acoustic signals have been extensively investigated, the equally essential subsequent stages that bridge to high-level auditory cognition remain less well understood.

An exceedingly porous and interwoven fibrous structure was achieved in this study by interlocking titanium carbide (TiC) MXenes onto the electrospun mats using poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) as the base polymer. The fibrous membrane was further modified with the inclusion of zinc oxide (ZnO) and tungstite (WO·HO) nano/microstructures via annealing and hydrothermal approaches. Through these strategic interfaced morphological developments in novel TiC/ZnO/WO·HO heterostructures, our findings reveal enhanced wettability and charge-segregation desirable for promoting oil-water separation and photoreactivity, respectively.

Albeit there is widespread application of thermally conductive polymer composites, one challenge is their typical negative temperature dependence on thermal conductivity (TDTC) due to the mismatch in thermal expansion between the polymer and fillers, creating voids at the interfaces. Inspired by the hierarchical structure of snakeskin, where rigid scales and a soft intergap manage expansion, we designed a segregated structure by coating a high-expansion high impact polystyrene (HIPS)/graphite (Gt) composite with a copper alloy. We hypothesize that the Cu alloy restricts the thermal expansion of HIPS/Gt while forming a pseudoconductive network, enhancing TDTC and thermal conductivity (TC).
