Background: Endometriosis is characterized by the ectopic growth of endometrial-like cells, causing chronic pelvic pain, adhesions and impaired fertility in women of reproductive age. Usually, these lesions grow in the peritoneal cavity in a hypoxic environment. Hypoxia is known to affect gene expression and protein kinase (PK) activity.

Mitochondrial dysfunction is an important driver of neurodegeneration and synaptic abnormalities in Alzheimer's disease (AD). Amyloid beta (Aβ) in mitochondria leads to increased reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, resulting in a vicious cycle of oxidative stress in coordination with a defective electron transport chain (ETC), decreasing ATP production. AD neurons exhibit impaired mitochondrial dynamics, evidenced by fusion and fission imbalances, increased fragmentation, and deficient mitochondrial biogenesis, contributing to fewer mitochondria in brains of AD patients.

Background: The co-occurrence of pulmonary hypertension (PH) in patients with pulmonary fibrosis (PF) is linked to a more unfavorable prognosis and increased mortality compared to PF cases without PH. Early intervention and comprehensive management are pivotal for improving survival outcomes. Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) is a protein essential in cholesterol metabolism.

Objective: To investigate the intervention of melatonin (MT) in the expression of circadian genes in patients with pulmonary fibrosis and to analyze the mechanism by which it alleviates the progression of pulmonary fibrosis.
Methods: By utilizing the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database, we identified differentially expressed circadian genes between patients with pulmonary fibrosis and controls. We analyzed the correlation between circadian genes and pulmonary function as well as genes related to pulmonary fibrosis.

Wound healing as a result of a skin injury involves a series of dynamic physiological processes, leading to wound closure, re-epithelialization, and the remodeling of the extracellular matrix (ECM). The primary scar formed by the new ECM never fully regains the original tissue's strength or flexibility. Moreover, in some cases, due to dysregulated fibroblast activity, proliferation, and differentiation, the normal scarring can be replaced by pathological fibrotic tissue, leading to hypertrophic scars or keloids.
