Evaluating the Influence of Row Orientation and Crown Morphology on Growth of . with Drone-Based Airborne Laser Scanning.

Plant Phenomics

October 2024

Cooperativa de Productividad Forestal, Departamento de Silvicultura, Facultad de Ciencias Forestales, Universidad de Concepción, Concepción, Chile.

The tree crown's directionality of growth may be an indicator of how aggressive the tree is in terms of foraging for light. Airborne drone laser scanning (DLS) has been used to accurately classify individual tree crowns (ITCs) and derive size metrics related to the crown. We compare ITCs among 6 genotypes exhibiting different crown architectures in managed loblolly pine () in the United States.

The COMPASS Collaboration performed measurements of the Drell-Yan process in 2015 and 2018 using a 190  GeV/c π^{-} beam impinging on a transversely polarized ammonia target. Combining the data of both years, we present final results on the amplitudes of five azimuthal modulations, which correspond to transverse-spin-dependent azimuthal asymmetries (TSAs) in the dimuon production cross section. Three of them probe the nucleon leading-twist Sivers, transversity, and pretzelosity transverse-momentum dependent (TMD) parton distribution functions (PDFs).

The objective of the proposed research is to develop plasma soft X-ray (SXR) radiation imaging that includes spectral information in addition to standard SXR tomography for the purpose of studying, for example, tungsten transport and its interplay with magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) in tokamak plasmas in an ITER-relevant approach. The SXR radiation provides valuable information about both aspects, particularly when measured with high spatial and temporal resolution and when tomographic reconstructions are performed. The spectral data will facilitate the tracking of both light and high-Z impurities.

Probing the Quark Orbital Angular Momentum at Electron-Ion Colliders Using Exclusive π^{0} Production.

Phys Rev Lett

August 2024

School of Physics and Key Laboratory of Particle Physics and Particle Irradiation (MOE), Shandong University, QingDao, Shandong, 266237, China.

We propose to detect signals from quark orbital angular momentum (OAM) through exclusive π^{0} production in electron- (longitudinally polarized) proton collisions. Our analysis demonstrates that the sin2ϕ azimuthal angular correlation between the transverse momentum of the scattered electron and the recoil proton serves as a sensitive probe of quark OAM. Additionally, we present a numerical estimate of the asymmetry associated with this correlation for the kinematics accessible at the Electron-Ion Colliders in the U.

Impact of professional dance training on characteristics of postural sway.

Acta Neurobiol Exp (Wars)

May 2024

Jerzy Kukuczka Academy of Physical Education, Katowice, Poland.

The stability of human upright posture determines the range and dynamics of movements performed. Consequently, the repertoire and quality of the movements performed by a dancer are mainly determined by the efficiency of postural control. This is of particular importance in professional dance training that should focus on shaping optimal movement‑posture interaction.
