Background: Patient-specific quality assurance (PSQA) is a crucial yet resource-intensive task in proton therapy, requiring special equipment, expertise and additional beam time. Machine delivery log files contain information about energy, position and monitor units (MU) of all delivered spots, allowing a reconstruction of the applied dose. This raises the prospect of phantomless, log file-based QA (LFQA) as an automated replacement of current phantom-based solutions, provided that such an approach guarantees a comparable level of safety.

Nature offers unique examples that help humans produce artificial systems which mimic specific functions of living organisms and provide solutions to complex technical problems of the modern world. For example, the development of 3D micro-nanostructures that mimic nocturnal insect eyes (optimized for night vision), emerges as promising technology for detection in IR spectral region. Here, we report a proof of principle concerning the design and laser 3D printing of all ultrastructural details of nocturnal moth Grapholita Funebrana eyes, for potential use as microlens arrays for IR detection systems.

Objective: To analyze acoustic measures of speech and vowel samples from individuals of different genders and to correlate these acoustic measures with vocal satisfaction. This study aims to provide additional data on acoustic measures, serving as references for clinicians while emphasizing the importance of moving beyond cisgender norms.
