Objectives: The objective of this study is to evaluate the incidence and volume of contrast medium extrusion when activated with a laser and to compare these outcomes with those of other irrigation techniques.

Materials And Methods: Sixteen cadaver mandibles containing 116 single-rooted teeth were prepared using conventional rotary instrumentation. The teeth were randomly assigned to four irrigation groups: side-vented needle, sonic irrigation, laser activation at the orifice, and laser activation at the middle third of the canal.

Observing quantum mechanical characteristics in biological processes is a surprising and important discovery. One example, which is gaining more experimental evidence and practical applications, is the effect of weak magnetic fields with extremely low frequencies on cells, especially cancerous ones. In this study, we use a mathematical model of ROS dynamics in cancer cells to show how ROS oscillatory patterns can act as a resonator to amplify the small effects of the magnetic fields on the radical pair dynamics in mitochondrial Complex III.

Identifying potential genes driving ferroptosis in the substantia nigra and dopaminergic neurons in Parkinson's disease.

Division of Neuroscience and Ageing Biology, CSIR-Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow, UP, India; Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR), Ghaziabad 201002, India. Electronic address:

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder marked by dopaminergic (DA) neuron degeneration in the substantia nigra (SN). Conventional dopamine replacement therapies provide limited long-term efficacy and significant side effects. Emerging evidence suggests ferroptosis-a form of cell death driven by iron-dependent lipid peroxidation-contributes to PD pathology, though direct evidence linking dysregulation of ferroptosis-related genes in DA neuron loss in PD remains limited.

Skeletal muscle disorders as risk factors for type 2 diabetes.

Mol Cell Endocrinol

January 2025

Department of Physiology and Biophysics, Rush University, Chicago, United States.

The incidence and prevalence of muscular disorders and of type 2 diabetes (T2D) is increasing and both represent highly significant healthcare problems, both economically and compromising quality of life. Interestingly, skeletal muscle dysfunction and T2D share some commonalities including dysregulated glucose homeostasis, increased oxidative stress, dyslipidemia, and cytokine alterations. Several lines of evidence have hinted to a relationship between skeletal muscle dysfunction and T2D.
