Photoredox-Enabled Direct and Three-Component Difluoroalkylative Modification of -Aryl Glycinates.

Org Lett

January 2025

Hubei Key Laboratory of Bioinorganic Chemistry & Materia Medica, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, 1037 Luoyu Road, Wuhan, Hubei 430074, China.

A Cu(I) photoredox-enabled reaction that selectively incorporates a difluoroalkyl group into -aryl glycine derivatives has been established. Using a bench-stable [PhPCFH]Br salt, the -CFH group could be installed either directly on the α-carbon of the glycine backbone or in a three-component fashion using an alkene as a bridge. A series of glycine derivatives have been evaluated, providing access to diverse unnatural amino esters and dipeptides with a -CHF unit.

Objective: The incidence of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) ruptures has been increasing annually. However, clinical surgeons have overlooked the impaction fractures of the posterolateral tibial plateau and lateral femoral condyle in patients with ACL ruptures. The purpose of the present study was to report the detection rate of the posterolateral tibial plateau impaction fractures in patients with ACL ruptures, and to evaluate the functional outcomes of patients following ACL reconstruction (ACLR) without treatment of the tibial fractures at a 2-year postoperative follow-up.

This study examines remaining life expectancy (RLE) after a cancer diagnosis, focusing on age, sex, cancer type, and metabolic syndrome (MS) components, using data from the SIDIAP database in Catalonia (2006-2017). RLE was analyzed for 13 cancer types, stratified by sex and MS components. The cohort study includes 183,364 individuals followed from diagnosis until death, transfer, or study end (December 2017).

A lower atherogenic index of plasma was associated with a higher incidence of sarcopenia.

Sci Rep

January 2025

Department of Geriatrics, The Third People's Hospital of Yunnan Province, The Second Affiliated Hospital of Dali University, 292 Beijing Road, Kunming, 650011, Yunnan Province, China.

Sarcopenia is an age-related muscle senescence disease that leads to functional limitations, physical disability and premature death in older adults. Atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) is a novel indicator of atherosclerotic status based on triglycerides and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between AIP and new-onset sarcopenia and its components among middle-aged and older adults in a Chinese community.
