Size-Effect Enriched Phase Diagram in -Type Skutterudite Superconductor IrSb.

Inorg Chem

January 2025

Beijing National Laboratory for Condensed Matter Physics, Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing 100190, China.

Pressurized IrX (X = P and As) stands out as the sole -type superconductors among dozens of filled-skutterudites that are primarily characterized by -type charge carriers. The emergence of superconductivity is proposed to be intimately related to the inharmonic rattling phonons originating from the filled atoms. Here, we explore the impact of the size effect of the rattling atoms by substituting X with Sb, whose radius is 30 and 17% larger than those of P and As, respectively.

Purpose: To describe a case of short common trunk of the occipital artery (OA) and ascending pharyngeal artery (APA) arising from the internal carotid artery (ICA).

Methods: A 36-year-old woman with a history of surgical resection of a right lateral ventricular meningioma and atheromatous plaque of the right ICA underwent cranial magnetic resonance (MR) imaging and MR angiography of the head and neck region with a 3-Tesla scanner.

Results: MR angiography of the neck region showed a small atheromatous plaque at the origin of the right ICA and an anomalous artery arising from the posteromedial aspect of the right ICA at the distal end of the carotid bulb.

A Rare Case of Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return.

Echocardiography

January 2025

Department of Ultrasound, Wuhan Asia Heart Hospital Affiliated to Wuhan University of Science and Technology, Wuhan Clinical Medical Research Center of Cardiovascular Imaging, Wuhan, China.

This manuscript presents a rare case of a complex pulmonary venous malposition with an intact atrial septum and ventricular septum. The study demonstrates the diagnostic utility of echocardiography and computed tomography in the evaluation of complex congenital heart disease.

Understanding the Topology Freezing Temperature of Vitrimer-Like Materials through Complementary Structural and Rheological Analyses for Phase-Separated Network.

ACS Macro Lett

January 2025

Department of Life Science and Applied Chemistry, Graduated School of Engineering, Nagoya Institute of Technology, Gokiso-cho Showa-ku, Nagoya-city, Aichi 466-8555, Japan.

Vitrimers are sustainable cross-linked polymers characterized by an associative bond exchange mechanism within their network. A well-known feature of vitrimers is the Arrhenius dependence of the viscosity or relaxation time. Another important aspect is the existence of a topology-freezing temperature (), which represents a transition between the viscoelastic solid state and the malleable viscoelastic liquid state.

Bronchopulmonary sequestration is an uncommon abnormality of the respiratory system that often manifests as recurrent pneumonia in childhood or as an incidental discovery on thoracic imaging in adults. The sequestration receives its blood supply from anomalous systemic circulation in contrast to pulmonary circulation and can manifest in either intrapulmonary or extrapulmonary forms. We discuss the instance of a young asymptomatic man who visited us seeking for medical clearance to travel abroad.
